“One of the key drivers to putting out a mobile website and app was that access to our current website from mobile devices had increased by more than 400 percent year-over-year. At the same time, we didn’t just want to give people another way to view and pay their bills. With smartphone usage on the rise, many companies are scrambling to create mobile websites and apps to make sure people can still interact with them on-the-go from mobile devices. That’s probably no surprise, given that smartphones are already outselling desktop and notebook computers combined, according to the Top Mobile Internet Trends report by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. And the trend is only going to grow. Oppenheimer & Co. reports that 75 percent of U.S. consumers will have smartphones in the next five years.
